Position

Juniorprofessor for Algebra and Number Theory. I am associated with the Algebraic Geometry Chair at the Mathematical Institute of the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin.

Research interests

My main interests lie in algebraic geometry and arithmetic geometry.

In particular, I do research on

  • Tate-Shafarevich groups of abelian varieties
  • Geometry and arithmetic of elliptic surfaces and K3 surfaces
  • Geometry of elliptic threefolds
  • Cohomology of singular varieties and their Hodge structures
  • Explicit methods to determine zeta functions
  • Arithmetic mirror symmetry

Teaching

During the Sommersemester 2012 I organize a seminar on the fundamental group.

Furthermore, I organize or participate in the following seminars:

During the Wintersemester 2011/12 I taught a four hour course on Algebraic Geometry II.

During the Sommersemester 2011 I taught a four hour course on Algebraic Geometry I.

During the Wintersemester 2010/2011 I taught a four hour course on Algebraic Curves and Zeta functions.

During the Sommersemester 2010 I taught a two hour course on Algebraic Surfaces.

During the Wintersemester 2009/2010 I taught Algebraic Geometry I. Nicola Tarasca organized problem sessions. More information on this course can be found here.

Past teaching (before WiSe 2009/2010, to appear soon).

Organized conferences and workshops

Algebraic and complex geometry, A conference on the occasion of Klaus Hulek's 60th Birthday, Hannover, September 10-14, 2012
Nogags 2011 (Summer term). Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, May 12-13, 2011
Workshop on elliptic fibrations and K3 surfaces. Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, July 14-16, 2010.
