Richard-von-Mises-Lecture
Richard
von Mises was professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of
Berlin from 1920 to 1933. In the face of rising antisemitism he left
Germany in 1933 and spent the rest of his life in exile, first in
Turkey, then in the United States.
He is famous worldwide for his fundamental contributions in Applied
Mathematics and in the development of Probability Theory and
Statistics.
The Richard-von-Mises-Lecture is held annually.
