This conference will present the latest developments in the use of
transcendental methods (complex analysis, differential geometry of
special metrics, harmonic maps, plurisubharmonic functions, Hodge
theory, ...) to study complex algebraic varieties. It will be an
opportunity to celebrate the 70th birthday of Thomas Peternell, who
played a major role in the development of transcendental methods in
algebraic geometry.
