Topologie II, Wintersemester 2024-25

lecture notes
The actual notes for this course begin with Chapter 27, on page 175. This file will be updated at least once a week during the semester; the current version contains everything up to the lecture from 14.01.2025 (the cross product). You may want to press the reload button to make sure you are seeing the current version.
What appears before Chapter 27 is a complete set of notes that I wrote for Topology I in a previous semester; this is convenient to have there so that I can occasionally refer to it in the current course. If you did not take my Topology I course, you will likely find that most of what is there nonetheless corresponds closely to something that you have seen in your previous topology course.

Announcements

  • 14.12.2024: The dates for final exams are now set, and they are:
    1. First exam period: February 24 or 25
    2. Second exam period: April 10 or 11
IMPORTANT: Be sure to observe the exam registration deadlines as dictated by the Prüfungsbüro!
When you register, you will be able to choose your preferred date; the precise time can then be scheduled flexibly between the hours of 11:00 and 17:00 (we will do this about a week beforehand).
Note for students unfamiliar with the system: You can freely choose to register for the first exam period or instead wait for the second period. If you fail in the first period, then the second period serves as a second chance. If you do not register for the first period and then fail in the second period, then you have to wait for the following year (when someone else will likely be teaching the course and its contents may be different) for an opporunity to try again.
  • 13.12.2024: There will be no lecture on the last Friday before the holidays (20.12.2024).
  • 28.11.2024: The lecture on Friday, 29.11 is cancelled. Plans for a make-up lecture will be announced via the moodle.
  • 8.10.2024: The problem class (Übung) will not meet in the first week of the semester.
  • 6.10.2023: Time-sensitive announcements for this course will generally be posted on the Moodle (see link above) so that they are also e-mailed automatically to all students. Please register for the Moodle if you are attending the course. If you do not have a HU computer account, you can still register for the HU Moodle with an external e-mail address by following this link and then clicking on "Create new account".
